Renewable LA: The First Annual Solar Open House & Green Holiday Gift Fest
ZDS Communications produced this environmental festival to promote the installation by Energy Efficiency Solar of the largest commercial solar array–100 kilowatts–in the San Fernando Valley. Some 300 people attended the day-long event, which included tours of the magnificent solar array, constructed on the roof of American Hi Definition and Sweetwater Digital, two of Hollywood’s leading digital video equipment providers. Evergreen Solar provided the photovoltaic panels, pictured above with their proud new owner, Ady Gil.
Major media covering Renewable LA included The Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Daily News, the LA Weekly, KCRW FM radio and KTLA-TV. It was also the subject of six blogs, some carrying video, and 15 other online sites. Event activities also included environmental seminars by such experts as state senate-candate Fran Pavley, author of the nation’s first climate change law, and Van Nuys Assemblymember Lloyd Levine; test rides of fully electric cars including the eBox by AC Propulsion, a ZENN, the Vectrix Maxi-Scooter and Roth Motorboards; and green-gift holiday shopping. Some 15 nonprofit environmental organizations also distribtuted information and answered questions.
The event culminated with the surprise arrival of a reconstructed EV1, which has continued to make headlines from You Tube to Detroit and back again. Read about it on Edmunds.com, too.
